How to Applique Circles

This is a quilt I made for a friend who just had a baby boy.

First I used a circle cutter & template to cut out the circles with Heat & Bond on the back. Then I pinned them on the background fabric. After I figured out were I wanted the circles I ironed them on.

I put my sewing machine on zigzag stitch using 2.5 & .3 setting.

With the applique foot, I put the edge of the fabric right next to the middle line in my foot and stay there as I am turning the fabric around while its sewing. I also put newspaper in the back to help stabilize it.

I start out slow then speed up as I go, slowing down when I need to turn the fabric. The smaller circles go by fast, so you have to constantly keep turning your fabric around.

Above is what the stitch will look like when your done.

Here is a video while I'm sewing to give you an ideal. Sorry it's choppy, had a hard time holding the camera while sewing.
